Job Placement for SWAPNO BeneficiaryPosted on 28 Feb, 2017
Skills are possibly the least erosive ‘assets’ a poor person can own and hence be effective in advancing graduation out of poverty. SWAPNO focuses on improving women’s access to skills development opportunities. However, even with skills, poor women often lack the network to secure a job. Vocational training may not even match the requirements of companies. This mismatch must be avoided through partnerships with the private sector from the start. Bangladesh’s garments sector is growing and so is its demand for skilled labour. SWAPNO develops partnerships with garments factories and supports job placement of women trained under the project. Eight SWAPNO beneficiaries have already been trained and employed as Sewing Machine Operators at Ecofab Limited, Viyellatex Group.
